What is EFT and how does it work?
Emotionally focused therapy is the most powerful and effect model for helping couples to get their relationship back on track. It is a three-stage process which helps couple identify their cycle of interaction and find a new way of interacting using the language of emotion. EFT helps people identify their part in the dynamic of their relationship. The therapy helps people to ask for what they need from their partners in a way that brings them results and greater relationship satisfaction.
Couples come in for relationship counseling once as a couple and then each person comes individually for one session. At the end of that time we confirm that we’re all on the same page. There are some rare circumstances when couples therapy is not appropriate. We will discuss if that is the case and more appropriate referrals will be made.
How do I know if it’s working?
Couples know it’s working when they feel like they both are invested in change. Couples begin to feel like they have each other’s backs. They can begin to talk to their partners in a way that feels comfortable and safe. They are beginning to relate differently which leads to a more fulfilling and meaningful way.
Does my insurance cover it?
Your insurance may cover part of the expenses if your plan includes reimbursement for out of network providers. We do not accept nor do we bill insurance companies for your treatment. We can provide a receipt for services that you may submit for reimbursement. If your financial situation requires you to use your network providers we may be able to help you find a therapist. Most likely that therapist will not be a certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist.
